- I'M NOT VIOLENT YOU D%$#HEAD! COME ON THEN I'LL SMASH YOUR - SNIP!
-
- Dear Dan,
-
- I have read issues 1 through 3 and love them all. But I wish to talk
- about the violence in computer games and this new age rating system.
- Now look at it this way. The graphics in games are getting more and
- more realistic (UP TO THE POINT OF FULL PHOTOGRAPHS NOW - DAN). Mortal
- Combat was released last year and that is every bit as gory as the second
- one, but now that we have this $#%##@ (SORRY WE CAN'T USE THAT WORD!)
- Age rating system we have Mortal Combat II under a 15 certificate, in
- my local computer store kids can't buy this game. Now I think it
- is daft (YES , STICK WITH THAT WORD - DAN) because Mortal Combat 1
- is on sale to any kid who wants it. Now I would be very interested to
- hear other people's views on this completely crap headed
- Subject.
- JOHN WALL, TYNESIDE
-
- Dan Says...
-
- Yes I agree with you there. But kids in most circumstances should be allowed
- to buy the game, as the certificates are only there for the parents
- to decide on. It is not illegal to sell these games to underage kids. Also
- I should bring the soap round your house!
- Next...
-
-
- DELUXE PAINT IS ONLY HALF THERE!!!!!!!
-
- Dear Page,
-
- I have gratefully received Page 3 (SO DO MOST OF US! ... OH! YOU MEAN OUR
- PAGE ISSUE 3. RIGHT. - DAN) and have enjoyed it. Although I think
- I should point out that Rick's Deluxe Paint review is only ½ complete
- (RICK, OFFICE NOW! - DAN). Why?
- CLIFF FRISE, STOCKTON
-
- Dan says...
-
- Oooer! I think I need to torture Rick a bit. I am in a grumpy
- mood tonight aren't I? Well, there isn't much I can say apart from
- sorry! It won't happen again. Rick says he put it on the disk but didn't
- get around to finishing it before the posting date. Feeble excuse if
- you ask me...
-
-
- LLAMATRON IS THERE!! PRINTERS ARE NOT THOUGH!
-
- Dear Sir/Madam,
-
- Thanks for Page issue 3 but I have searched right through the disk
- for the Printers section promised but I can't find it. Also in the
- Page 4 preview it says to make up from Llamatron... What happened?
- CHRIS SHUTT, CLEVELAND
-
- Dan says...
-
- Damn! We really did cock up last issue didn't we. Well it was because
- of us changing the mag so much from issues 1 and 2, is that OK... no
- thought not. Well the Printers feature was all there, but on the night
- before posting the original page disk developed a read error, so I used
- XCopy to copy it using DOSCOPY + which kills faults, unfortunetly I
- had to remove the faulty disk block, which lost that file, which
- explains why disk 3 is not 100% full, also at first I didn't have
- enough room to include Llamatron, but right at the last minute I
- put it on instead of the Printers feature. By the way, don't
- take too much notice of the Next Disk pages as 50 % of the time they
- are wrong, but they are only intended to give a brief outline of
- next disk. You mat have noticed the missing of the game Galaxions
- from this disk (Promised by me last disk - DAN), well since it
- is crimbo I decided to use Phsyco Santa instead.
-
-
- Q & A SECTION IS GREAT, BUT WHERE'S MY ANSWER?
-
- Dear Dan,
- I have recently written with a question but have not got
- an answer back yet. Where's it gone?
- JAMES THOMSON, STOCKTON
-
- Dan says...
-
- That's the question about the Amiga 590 Hard Disk isn't it. Well
- check out this disks Q&A section, you are in there. Well why didn't
- you receive an answer in the post? Because you didn't include an SAE!
- You can't expect us to pay for ALL the postage we have to do you know,
- although we have been known to send a few answers back with out you
- sending an SAE in the past, we really must ask you to include an SAE
- if you can't wait 2 months until the next page.

- STAR LETTER - FREE ISSUE OF PAGE WINNER!
-
- Dear Dan,
-
- I have been buying Commodore computers since my first Commodore 700
- computer in 1981. Back then Commodore machines weren't as widely
- available as they are now. You couldn't walk into Dixons and purchase
- a C700 you had to buy from mail order or Commodore-only dealers.
- But the good thing about it then was that all the techie information
- was available, you got the specifications from the dealers and they
- knew what they were talking about. Through the years I have stuck
- with Commodore, I have progressed through Vic 20s, 64s, 16s, and
- recently have just sold a 128. I sold my 128 when I decided that
- it was about time for something different. Since how I have
- trusted Commodore in the past and got all the details I needed
- on site when buying I considered the Amiga as the next logical step.
- So I popped into Dixons in my town centre and asked about an Amiga 1200.
- The man who saw to me didn't seem to know what he was talking about.
- He asked me what I wanted the Amiga for, games or serious applications.
- I said a bit of both, but a bit more on the serious end of the scale.
- He reccomended that I give the Amiga a miss as it was primarly a games
- machine and he said I should go for the PC or Apple Mac. Now I have
- seen what great things the Amiga can do in Amiga magazines and have
- read loads about how good they are for DTP, with programs like Pagestream
- etc. Word processing, and they are meant to be the best in the world
- for video, anyone who is serious about video needs an Amiga, no other
- machine is powerful enough, I have been told. Well I decided to take
- a big risk and go for the Amiga 1200 and I love it! It is 409832574365 times
- better than any shitty old PC I have used and the Mac?
- The bloody thing can't even multitask! I am really glad I chose the Amiga,
- and Dixons putting me off buying one and trying to make me
- buy a PC which cost many times more makes me think that they are only
- in this game for the money and all customer loyalty has gone out of the
- window. Maybe it is time to return to the 1981 way, where you could
- only buy Commodore from companies who knew what they were talking about
- and would have your best interests at heart.
- ANDY STANNOP, STOCKTON
-
- Dan says...
-
- Very sad... That was Andy Stannop in Points of View from Page 4.
- He must have ran out of printer ink I think.

- MORE MICRO TIPS FOR GAMESTERS!
-
- Dear Dan The Man, (Thank you very much DAN)
-
- I think that you should start a games help Q&A thing. The Micro Tips
- section just isn't enough for us gamesters! By the way , Micro Tips
- didn't work last disk!
- NICK LOGAN, DARLINGTON
-
- Dan says...
-
- Well, Nick The Dick! We have given your idea some thought and decided
- to put it in with the Gamer Guide section, OK. Oh and why doesn't
- every one just burn the last issue of page as it totally cocked up
- didn't it? I need some one to blame it on though... ah Rick!
-
-
- DEAR RICK?!
-
- Dear Rick, (Hey this is my section! 8-( ) - Shocked Smiley! - DAN!)
-
- I think that you should take over Page as your Games section is
- sooooooooo cool! Come on everyone, together we can do it!
- SIMON SLOAN, NEWCASTLE
-
- Dan says...
-
- Next issue Rick has a massive cheat special (deja vu?)
-
-
- TOO MUCH, TOO LITTLE!
-
- Dear Sir/Madam,
- I think that you devote far too much space to the letters
- pages in your mag and...
- ANDREW GRIFFITHS, Stockton-on-Tees
-
- Dan says...
-
- Yes you're probably right, which is why I cut your letter very short!
- We do seem to be getting loads at the moment, all these new Amiga users.
- Most people send a little missive in their SAEs for Page.
-
- I WANT £500!
-
- Dear Dan,
-
- I would like £500 for this idea of mine (Well, tough - DAN). I was thinking
- of a Christmas Amiga list next disk as it will be December won't it.
- Also send the £500 to me... BLAH! BLAH!
- JANE JACKSON, BARNARD CASTLE
-
- Dan says...
-
- We have already prepared an Amiga Christmas list, but since how it
- was such a good idea have a free copy of the cool PD Amiga game, Pengo!
-
-
- KEEP GAMES CASTLE WHERE IT IS!
-
- Dear Dan,
-
- I think that the 8-Bit section is a great idea and will attract users
- of other machines to buy Amigas as well as their other machines (I doubt
- it, but here's hoping! - DAN). I don't however think you should include
- it in the Gamer Guide section, keep it in it's own place so that it is
- easy to find. I own a Commodore 16 along with my A600 so I think that
- this is a great help with deciding which games to buy for my C16 without
- having to pay out extra money for a C16 magazine.
- SHARON STARK, ESTON
-
- Dan says...
-
- OK I have made sure that the Games Castle part stays in it's
- own drawer along with anything else that applies to other makes of Computer.
- Good to hear from you.
-
-
- -
- | LOVE THE NEW ANSI TEXT!
- -
-
- Dear Dan,
- Just a quickie (Uhh! - DAN). I absolutely love the new ANSI letters
- at the start of the new articles and think it makes the Pages look
- more attractive.
- JAMES SIMPSON, MIDDX
-
- Dan says...
-
- Yes I am quite pleased with that idea of mine. Good to hear from you
- James.
-
-
- HELLO DANWOOD!
-
- Dear Dan,
- I just thought I would write to bring something to your attention,
- in the Amiga Shopper User group section you are called Danwood!
- STEPHEN WELCH, COULBY NEWHAM
-
- Dan says...
-
- I have just had a look at that and I have never noticed it before. I was
- wondering why some promotion offers from companies such as Digita and
- Silica were addressed to Danwood. I shall notify Amiha Shopper of this
- soon. Thanks for your letter.
-
-
- And that wraps it up for another Points of View. Write to me NOW and you will
- probably be in the next issue of Page. Byeeeeeeeeeeee!
-
